The bridge house was designed as an ideal bachelor pad for a high-tech executive and collector of books, who likes to entertain. The guest suite was specifically designed for his parents, who periodically come to visit from Europe. The owner’s preference for simple, angular forms was the driving force behind the stylistic approach. The home is approached via a bridge, and nestled into the hillside, and the main level features large living areas as well as a gourmet kitchen. The master bedroom and office are upstairs, as is the guest house. Perhaps the most striking feature of the home is the cantilevered swimming pool on the second level. The end of the pool is constructed in glass, allowing a view to the hill country below. Materials for the home include metal panels, stucco, board-formed concrete, steel and Ipe wood decks. The home is currently under construction by Edward Gordon Builders and is slated for completion in the summer of 2015.
